Forget planning

Can the best plan be no plan at all?

Last week was a bank holiday. A perfect blank page of a day.

My son and I jumped into the car. We called it our “spontaneous day.”

I listed towns within an hour's drive. He picked one.

Just like that, we had a destination.

As we drove towards that town, anything that caught our eye became a pit stop.

First up, an airplane museum.

It wasn't just any museum. This one had a café inside a hangar. Mini aircraft everywhere. And a super cool 3D painting in front of it.

We played there for a bit. Then, back on the road.

Next, an old castle. My son decided the castle was his and so was the flag on the top.

"Let’s climb to my castle," he said. So we did. We climbed right up to that flag.

We stopped at a beautiful playground.

Stopped for snacks when hungry.

Ended up at a beach, as it was one of those perfect warm spring days.

Our day had no plan. But it was awesome.

In business, like in life, everyone tells you to plan.

Have strategies.

Make roadmaps.

But what if sometimes you just went where the road took you?

Some of our coolest business ideas and marketing stunts come from just going with the flow. It’s the unexpected that grabs us.

Let’s be real. When you step off the usual path, you find fresh, exciting ideas. Just like a hidden hangar café or a castle that suddenly belongs to you.

So, next time you're deep in plans, remember: Maybe a little spontaneity is what you need. And let your inner kid pick a spot on your business map.

Just drive.

And maybe you’ll discover your next big idea on the way to somewhere else.

Keep driving. Keep discovering.

P.S.: Also keep your tank full. You never know where the next turn might take you.
