I have to confess
I said YES and have a surprise for you
I have to confess…
I always preach about learning to say NO.
I dedicated an entire chapter of my book to explaining how your YES becomes so much more valuable when you say NO more often.
And I shared tricks I learned from my successful friends about how to master the art of saying NO.
…But do you know what I’m trying to learn now?
To say YES more often.
Sometimes, NO becomes our default. Our excuse not to step out of our comfort zone.
It's not necessarily laziness, but often just a comfort we've settled into.
So every now and then, instead of reflexively saying NO to that “quick call about a groundbreaking Web3 idea”... Or that “incredible conference where they want me to speak for free”... Or that “let’s grab a coffee” message from an acquaintance...
…I just say YES.
Not always. But sometimes.
F*ck it, why not?
That's exactly what I said to a guy who asked if I offer 1-on-1 mentoring sessions. Of course I don’t. With everything on my plate, I don’t really have time to take care of someone else’s plate.
But I also knew I could genuinely help him in just a couple of hours.
So, I shot him my fee, offered some time slots, and sent a questionnaire to understand the essence of his (quite impressive) project. To understand where I could be valuable.
Did it help?
Here’s his reaction after a few weeks: “I can't believe the value from just two hours with you. You showed me perspectives I didn’t see right in front of my face... And thank you for pushing me into the first steps right away – it’s already paying dividends.”
So, why do I share this with you?
Because I just said: “F*ck it, why not”...
I’ve decided to offer a few of these sessions in the coming weeks.
If you're familiar with my work – my book, my newsletters, my journey, my projects – you likely have an idea of the areas where I can bring value.
I know how to build brands (of anything). I know how to create experiences. I know how to work with communities. I know how to look at things differently and use it in marketing.
But I also realize that you can't master the Rubik’s Cube in two hours for the first time. That's not the goal. You'll have some prep work to make sure we maximize our time together.
These “extra mile sessions” will be available either online or offline (in Prague). And, good news for my local folks – they'll not be only in English but also in Slovak and Czech.
Keep an eye on your inbox next week for all the details.
And meanwhile, try saying YES to something unexpected this weekend. You might be surprised by what happens.
Carpe diem,
Tino
