Andy Warhol, Snoop Dogg and You

🦋 The art of reinvention

Midnight. Me, eyes wide open, watching Netflix. Of course, with the blue-light-blocking glasses on.

My pick? The Andy Warhol Diaries.

Three episodes in, and I'm feeling like I'm there. Walking the streets of New York with Warhol. Seeing his world through his eyes.

The thing that fascinates me most?

Warhol was always reinventing himself.

Painter.

Filmmaker.

Editor in Chief.

Model.

When he felt he was getting old (and a bit irrelevant), he became a mentor to Basquiat, the voice of the new generation.

Change. Evolution. Reinvention.

But let's step out of Warhol's world and jump into another...

Snoop Dogg.

Exactly a year ago, I was sitting at the VeeCon NFT conference, listening to Gary Vaynerchuk interviewing Snoop.

He has been on top of the rap game for more than 30 years.

30 years. Let that sink in.

But he didn't stop at music.

Instagram hit the scene, and he was one of the first celebs to dive in.

Web3? He's an NFT whale under the pseudonym Cozomo de Medici. Performing as his Bored Ape character in the Metaverse during the MTV Video Music Awards.

Snoop of the '90s isn't the Snoop of today.

But he actually is - just with a new skin.

Reinvention isn't about jumping on every trend.

It's about adapting. It's about evolving.

Successful reinvention is about staying authentic.

Hannah Montana becoming Miley Cyrus is one of the strongest celebrity “rebranding” lessons I’ve ever seen.

And what about Arnold Schwarzenegger? From bodybuilder to Hollywood star to Governor of California. And now a content machine with an amazing newsletter and an app (made by my friends from STRV). Different roles, different fields, but always Arnold.

Justin Timberlake. Oprah Winfrey. The Rock. Robert Downey Jr. Reese Witherspoon. Ashton Kutcher. Martha Stewart. And of course, David Bowie and Madonna.

Even I've had my own twist in the tale of reinvention. There was a time when I used to rap. Yes, I did - I even released two albums under Sony. Don’t ask, just search “Dramatikz” on YouTube.

Dropping verses in a world where rappers were labeled as 'not that smart'.

Then I became an entrepreneur, delivering keynotes at every marketing conference there was. Teaching all the eager conference attendees about guerilla marketing tactics, digital strategies, and building brands.

The journey didn't stop there - I've since morphed into a podcast host or an author. Painting the same picture of me, but always in slightly different colors.

Success leaves tracks. Once you've succeeded in one field, you have a roadmap. You know the terrain. You can move faster.

Reinvention isn't about chasing trends.

It's about evolution.

It's about knowing when to shed your old skin and embrace the new.

Just remember: Reinvention isn't about losing yourself in the new. It's about finding new ways to be you.

Keep evolving,

Tino
